Fresh from collecting his Boxing Writers Young Boxer of the Year award in London on Monday evening, Liam Williams has received another boost.

The unbeaten 24 year old has shot up the WBO World Rankings into third place.

There has been suggestion that Canelo will vacate his newly won title in quest of Middleweight honours which could potentially open the door for Williams to contest for the belt in the not so distant future.

Before Williams can dream of a World Title shot, he must get through his British Super-Welterweight Title defence against Ahmet Patterson on Saturday 22nd October.

Like the defending Champion, Patterson is unbeaten which is sure to provide fireworks when the pair collide in Cardiff.

The Welsh Wizard Williams has been in scintillating form since his return from a one year injury absence, stopping all three of his opponents inside the distance.

Victory for Williams over Patterson would only bring him one step closer to a shot at World honours and set up an exciting 2017 for the 24 year old.
