Fresh from the announcement of his latest fight against Ahmet Patterson, Liam Williams has been gaining invaluable experience sparring Kell Brook.

The British and Commonwealth Super-Welterweight Champion was drafted in by Brook and his trainer Dominic Ingle to help prepare for their showdown with the feared Kazakh KO king Gennady Golovkin.

Speaking with The Star, Williams revealed: “It’s been a massive opportunity for me.”

The Welsh wizard got the call after Team Brook saw similarities to the pound for pound superstar.

“I was told they picked me because I had the most similar style to Golovkin in this country. I was taken aback, I hadn’t expected that,” stated the unbeaten rising starlet.

Whilst Brook prepares for GGG, Williams defends his Title against stablemate Ahmet Patterson in Cardiff. With his injury worries behind him, the 24 year old brings a range of styles to the ring.

“To be honest I can do a bit of both, I pick the style that I feel the most comfortable with and go with it. I think they (Ingles) wanted me to come forward in the sparring and put it on him, to make him work.”

Williams himself continues camp for a huge, co-headlining topping show in Cardiff once more shared with Chris Eubank Jr's British Title defence against Tommy Langford. Tickets on sale now from TicketMaster.
