Hall-of-fame promoter Bob Arum believes he can make a fight between Manny Pacquiao and Vasyl Lomachenko in 2017.
This weekend Lomachenko defends his WBO World Super-Featherweight Title against Nicholas Walters, live on BoxNation.
“He has a huge upside. This is the second World Title [Lomachenko has won] in seven professional fights,” Arum told journalists on a media call this week.
“It’s never happened before and he’s going to win other World Titles as he goes up in weight.”
The Ukrainian two-time Olympic gold medallist is widely recognised as one of the best fighters on the planet, and has been heavily linked to Filipino boxing legend Pacquiao in recent weeks.
‘Pac Man’ came out of retirement to become WBO World Welterweight Champion with a win over Jessie Vargas.
“There’s going to be very, very interesting guys for him to fight. I mean, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that he and Manny could fight sometime next year,” added Arum.
“Vasyl Lomachenko wants challenges. A lot of people are watching him, not just boxing fans, because he is such an unbelievable performer. I’ve had a lot of people who are not really into boxing and have said what an unbelievable talent he is.”
