Argentinian hopeful Lucas Matthysse is more than ready for his third attempt at a World Title against unbeaten Tewa Kiram on the Jorge Linares v Mercito Gesta card this Saturday.

The two go to battle for the vacant WBA World Welterweight belt in California. Speaking via a translator, Matthysse told FightHub that he knows he has his work cut out for him if he’s going to be the one to take the Thai fighter down.

"I’ve been training regularly, and training very hard. Obviously we’re training for the opponent that we have in front of us, training so that I can land some punches."

Matthysse is a known heavy hitter, having racked up an impressive 35 knockouts in 38 bouts, and is ranked third by the WBA while Kiram places first. ‘The Machine’ knows that while the Thai man is lesser known, he cannot underestimate him.

"We do know him. We know that there are videos of him. He’s ranked really highly in the division so we do know him and we’re going to be prepared well for this fight. He’s number one and he’s fought really well you know, and that’s something that I have to respect," added the slugger.

When asked whether he thinks he’ll be able to knock Kiram out, Matthysse’s response required no translation as he confidently predicted the stoppage will come.
