Former interim WBA World Super-Lightweight Champion Mauricio Herrera has backed potential future opponent Lucas Matthysse to prevail over Viktor Postol this Saturday night.
The 22-5 American believes that the heavy-handed Argentine Matthysse’s desire to win will be key to overcoming the skilled and unbeaten Ukrainian Postol when the two meet in a classic boxer vs. brawler encounter tonight (starts 2am UK time on BoxNation).
"They’re both good. Postol, from what little I’ve seen, looks strong. He’s tall, and he can use his distance well. He can cause problems if he fights outside and stays smart. But if he makes any mistakes, Matthysse will punish him. I think the hunger of Matthysse will help him achieve the victory," Herrera said, speaking to Boxingscene.com's Miguel Rivera.
Matthysse enters the contest with a big-punching reputation with 34 of his 37 wins coming by way of knockout. Ring Magazine this week dubbed him the best currently active fighter to have never won a world title.
Postol faces Matthysse with a perfect 27-0 record and a five-inch reach advantage over Matthysse, standing tall for the weight at 5ft 11in. Don’t miss KO machine Matthysse v technician Postol LIVE on BoxNation tonight at 2am, subscribe now!
