Golden Boy Promotions’ chief matchmaker Robert Diaz believes Amir Khan’s lightning speed can play a big part in the forthcoming WBC World Middleweight Title fight.

Speaking to ThaBoxingVoice ahead of May 7’s huge fight, the Mexican revealed: “It’s a special fight… Everybody that knows Mexican boxers are strong, aggressive but their kryptonite is speed… If anybody brings speed its Amir Khan. It’s one of the reasons Mayweather and Pacquiao didn’t want to fight him.”

Diaz, who boasts a wealth of experience in the game believes it’s going to be one of the fights of the year.

“It’s going to be fun! You got a strong, counter puncher against a very fast, skilful fighter who has a lot of experience from the Olympics and now in the pros.”

When quizzed if Canelo could come back from a shock defeat, Diaz was quick to remind listeners of the flame haired Mexican’s age.

“I don’t know many other fighters who have fought who he has at 25 years old. Fans don’t put an emphasis on an 0, they put emphasis on the great fights.”

“We forget how old he is. He turned pro at 15! That’s why we forget he’s 25 years old,” continued Diaz.
