With just under three weeks to go until the all Mexican WBC World Super-Featherweight Title fight between Champion Francisco Vargas and challenger Miguel Berchelt, both men are entering a critical phase of their respective training camps.
Berchelt’s trainer Alfredo Caballero believes his man is on the right course to prevail and hand ‘El Bandido’ the first loss of his career: “We're doing well, I'm happy for Miguel's response in training camp. He's in good shape (63 kilos), only four pounds above the Super-Featherweight limit.”
The two warriors collide at the Fantasy Springs Casino in California on Saturday 28th January live on the Channel of Champions.
Respected trainer Caballero reiterated his pre-fight prediction insisting there is only going to be one winner: "Miguel is going to tear him apart. I'm positive of that!”
BoxNation viewers will recall ‘The Scorpion’ scoring a sixth round stoppage over the gutsy George Jupp, who took the fight on short notice, back in March 2016.
The heavy hitting 25 year old has racked up a devastating 27 KO’s from his 30 professional wins with trainer Caballero tipping the interim WBO Champion to step up and land his first World Title to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez.
"Miguel wants to be like the great Mexican champions, he wants to be like [Julio Cesar] Chavez, whose first championship was precisely the one that Berchelt is going to fight for and I think he's going to do it, but we have to keep working," stated Caballero in an interview with Mexican TV.
