BOXING fans were spoiled in 2017, with the best taking on the best. Most notably, Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin finally met in September and look set for a rematch next year. Vasyl Lomachenko was challenged by Guillermo Rigondeaux, who proved no match for the Ukrainian wizard.

Throw in Andre Ward v Sergey Kovalev 2, Terence Crawford becoming undisputed Super-Lightweight king and Anthony Joshua facing Wladimir Klitschko, and it's been a fantastic year for the sport.

RICKY Hatton was not impressed with Darryll Williams' showboating during his first fight with Jahmaine Smyle in April, and gave him an earful back in the corner!

PAUL Frampton?! John Rawling made a blooper back on our Belfast show in June, calling Carl Frampton by the wrong first name.

IN the lead-up to Canelo v Golovkin, former GGG foe Martin Murray had a unique way of describing the power of the Kazakh's crunching punches, comparing the feeling to having a baby.

ADELAIDE Byrd stole the show in Las Vegas on September 16th. Many observers felt Golovkin edged Canelo in a gripping encounter, but American judge Byrd scored the fight 118-110 in favour of the Mexican - meaning Golovkin only won two rounds. She was temporarily suspended and drew heavy criticism.

FLOYD Mayweather was in the headlines in the build-up to Gervonta Davis' World Title defence against Liam Walsh in May. At the heated final press conference, 'Money' offered to fight all three Walsh brothers.
