After Paul Butler edged closer to another World Title shot after a stoppage victory over Sebastian Sanchez on Saturday night it didn’t take too long for Jamie Conlan’s name to crop up.
The pair have been linked to fight for months and as of yet, the mouth-watering dustup hasn’t come to fruition.
“We want it, they talk about it… There’s a difference!” explained Butler who was speaking to Alex Steedman ringside after his fourth KO win in a row.
The unbeaten Belfast star Conlan has today inked a promotional contract with Frank Warren which could bring the fight even closer.
"I’m pushing onto world level now and Frank’s expertise is second to none so I know that I’m in great hands," revealed 'The Mexican'.
Butler has recently been called up for a final WBO World Title eliminator which could pave the way for the proposed fight to have World honours on the line when they finally meet.
Conlan, who is ranked just one place below Butler in the WBO’s order of merit, returns to action on April 30’s big show at the Copper Box Arena headlined by Billy Joe Saunders’ first World Title defence.
Despite victory, the win came at a cost for the former Bantamweight World Champion Butler who sustained an injury to both of his hands. The extent of the injury has yet to be determined.
Fans will be hoping both men can lock horns sooner rather than later.
