Former lineal World Featherweight Champion and British fighting legend Prince Naseem Hamed has backed Carl Frampton to beat Leo Santa Cruz in New York this Saturday.
BoxNation viewers are in for a treat when two unbeaten fighters collide at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn with the WBA Super World Featherweight Title up for grabs.
Naz himself travelled to New York in 1997, where he famously knocked out Kevin Kelley after being dropped three times in a four round thriller to defend his WBO World Featherweight crown.
“Carl is a great fighter and I knew he would have too much for Scott Quigg in his last fight,” Naz told The Belfast Telegraph.
“I remember when I fought against Kevin Kelley at Madison Square Garden. I was just a kid form Sheffield and it was amazing to see my name up in lights like that.
“I think Carl is more than capable of handling the occasion and even though he is stepping up from super-bantamweight to featherweight, I have every confidence he can get the job done against Santa Cruz.”
