Shortly after the AT&T Stadium was confirmed as the location for Liam Smith’s World Title defence against Canelo Alvarez on Saturday 17th September, the two came face to face for the first time in Dallas.

The defending Champion Liam Smith revealed: “You'll see he's in with a big 154, he won't bully me. He won't have it his own way. I'm getting better!”

Beefy makes the third defence of his WBO crown and fights in the U.S for the first time: “I'm very excited. He's the biggest name in the sport at the moment. I couldn't ask for anything more.”

The flame haired Mexican challenger remained professional throughout: “I'm very happy to be back in Texas at this beautiful stadium. I'm going to prepare well like always. On Saturday 17th September you'll see a good fight!”

Smith greeted Canelo with a Happy Birthday wish, but insisted he won’t be blown away by the awe of the pound for pound superstar.

Legendary fighter come promoter Oscar De La Hoya stated: "Both of these fighters come from boxing families, it's in their blood. With that comes a great responsibility.”

Ring Magazine Trainer of the Year for 2015 Joe Gallagher will be planning Smith’s gameplan ahead of the big fight.

“I'm really looking forward to this fight. We aren't coming over here to make up the numbers. Liam is doing what World Champions do. Defending his Title against one of the best."
