It’s been a rollercoaster year for Guillermo Rigondeaux. Promotional issues plus injury has seen the former unified Super-Bantamweight champion out of the ring since December last year.

Despite being dropped twice by Hisashi Amagasa, Rigo got the victory in Japan to retain his World Titles, which have since been stripped through inactivity.

Fast forward a year and promotional ties have now been severed with Gary Hyde, freeing the Cuban to ink a deal with RocNation.

The unbeaten, Miami resident will make his first outing of 2015 on this weekend’s huge Cotto v Canelo show in Las Vegas.

"We are thrilled to add Guillermo Rigondeaux, one of boxing's best pound-for-pound fighters, to what we believe is the biggest night in boxing this year," said David Itskowitch of Roc Nation Sports' boxing division in a joint press release with Caribe Promotions, who will be co-promoting the two time Olympic Gold medallist.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to deliver a show to all the boxing fans that have supported me throughout this journey, and I look forward to delivering my best come fight night," revealed the 35 year old.

The elated Rigondeaux added “This is a great platform to take my career to the next level, and to showcase my talents on the big stage.”

Filipino Drian Francisco will be “El Chacal’s” opponent on Saturday, fans will be hoping a potential super fight with Vasyl Lomachenko can be made for 2016.
