Hall of fame trainer Freddie Roach has said that his man Miguel Cotto will stop Canelo Alvarez when the two collide on November 21.

Speaking to Boxingscene.com’s Stephen Rivera at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, Roach spoke of his confidence that Cotto will finish Canelo late on in their WBC World Middleweight title clash.

“Cotto beats him on conditioning alone,” said Roach.

“We’re going to take him into deep waters and then take him out in the late rounds.”

The defending champion Cotto, who is almost 10 years older than Canelo, was in confident mood as he said the public “knows what to expect” when he fights.

“I think after 14 years of my career, the public knows what to expect. Do not expect anything less than that on November 21,” the Puerto Rican said.

“When we started this training camp, I came to follow instructions from Freddie. And so I’ve kept to that. I’ve only been focused on my preparation and not on what he does or says.

“In my career I’ve never watched videos of my opponent. I come to the gym to work, and Freddie is the one who takes care of the technical and tactical aspects.”
