Speaking in the post-fight press conference, new WBO World Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders has revealed Miguel Cotto is his dream fight.
Saunders who took a majority decision over Andy Lee on Saturday night has fired himself into the Middleweight mix with potential lucrative bouts in 2016.
Ecstatic promoter Frank Warren addressed the media, “If we could make Cotto in the next fight, in a heartbeat. I’d do that tomorrow.”
The 35 year old Puerto Rican is coming off a defeat to the new WBC World Champion Canelo Alvarez and is said to be weighing up his future.
“That’s the fight I want,” revealed Saunders.
“Since I’ve been a young boy I’ve watched him, I’d love the Cotto fight. I’d take it next. To go to America and do it would be a big dream,” continued the jubilant Hatfield native.
Both promoter and new World Champion will plot Saunders’ next move after Christmas and the New Year.
