Steven Donnelly knows that his superb amateur experience will play a big part when he competes in next month’s Ultimate Boxxer event.
Unbeaten Donnelly (5-0, 1 KO) will be part of the Super-Welterweight tournament at the Indigo at The O2 on September 20th, live on BoxNation.
As an amateur, Donnelly represented Ireland at the 2016 Olympics, and also won two Commonwealth bronze medals, and he plans on using that to his advantage.
Donnelly said: “I’m really looking forward to the tournament. It’s on a huge stage on BT Sport so it’s a great opportunity for me to show my skills. It will raise my profile big time and can help me push on in my career. It’s also great that all of my supporters can tune in and watch me.
“My elite amateur experience will play a big part and this style of fighting will suit me, but by no means is it a given. Every fighter will be there to win and I’ll be ready for whatever comes my way.
“I’m 5-0 as a professional and it’s only recently been a year since turning over so I’m happy with my progress, especially as I had a good knockout win in my last fight.
“I’ve seen a quick glance at the fighters but I haven’t checked up on them as I believe in my ability so I’ll leave all of that to my coach.”
The other boxers competing in the event are Kaan Hawes, Joshua Ejakpovi, Sean Robinson, Aaron Collins, Kingsley Egbunike, Lenny Fuller and Lewis Syrett.
