Promoter Oscar De La Hoya has urged Gennady Golovkin to fight Canelo Alvarez.

A whopping eight figure offer has been reportedly sent to the Kazakh KO King to fight his man Canelo for next year.

Speaking after Canelo’s victory over Liam Smith, the Golden Boy stated: “Take the offer, sign the contract and stop calling people clowns!”

The potential fight between Golovkin and Canelo is arguably the biggest fight that can be made in boxing right now. With negotiations rumbling on for months fans will be hoping the pair can come to an agreement for a monster fight next year.

“If he’s not happy with what we have to offer, good luck to him and let him fight someone where he can make that type of money. Where he never will,” continued De La Hoya.

Golovkin has expressed an interest in fighting Billy Joe Saunders beforehand to unify the division but Team Canelo are hoping to hear back sooner rather than later.

“I’m waiting for an answer. Come back with something. The offer is very significant, an eight figure number with PPV upside. There should be no excuses what so ever,” revealed the Golden Boy Promotions chief.

Speaking with FightHub at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Oscar was clearly keen to get the deal done

“I don’t know exactly what they are trying to do. We want the fight, sign it and we’ll make the fight happen next September.”
