Undefeated WBO World Lightweight Champion Terry Flanagan is ready to step back in the ring after a tentative fight date was set for September 16th.
The Manchester native has tweeted fellow Lightweight Champion Jorge Linares in an attempt to get the Venezuelan to step into the ring with him in what would be an electric match-up to unify the WBO and WBA World Titles.
Framed as a “Best vs Best” in the Lightweight division, Linares is no stranger to fighting in the UK having seen off Anthony Crolla twice. He also squared off against Kevin Mitchell before stopping him in the 10th. It’s a definite possibility and it’s clear Flanagan wants the fight.
The WBA kingpin responded to the Englishman, seemingly embracing the challenge his British adversary would bring, tweeting that he was ready when Flanagan was ready.
Im Ready... When you want i want.. #TeamLINARES— #TeamLINARES™ (@JorgeLinares) July 6, 2017
‘Turbo’ most recently won a dominating decision over game challenger Petr Petrov and is desperate to test himself against the other Champions in the division, a potential meeting would be one of the most mouthwatering clashes of 2017.
