After demolishing Dominic Wade inside two rounds, Gennady Golovkin’s attention now switches to the huge Canelo v Khan fight.

Speaking post-fight, K2 Promotions’ chief Tom Loeffler stated: “He became mandatory after he beat Rubio, it’s been nearly two years. There’s no excuses – the winner of Canelo v Khan fights him or Gennady has to get the title.”

The Kazakh KO King continued his devastating streak to 22 stoppage wins in a row and is looking for a huge fight during 2016.

“Our first choice would be the fight against Canelo, it’s the biggest fight in the sport of boxing but he’s not the only choice. Billy Joe Saunders is a huge fight in the U.K, Danny Jacobs in NYC, Gilberto Ramirez in Texas,” explained Loeffler.

WBO World Middleweight Champion Billy Joe Saunders took to Twitter after witnessing Golovkin’s latest victory to offer a unification bout.

Saunders remains a possibility, though Loeffler is keen to enforce Team GGG’s mandated WBC position: “The WBC Champion is mandated to fight Gennady. Last year he beat David Lemieux - Step by step he’s accomplishing his goal.”
