Amir Khan has outlined his intentions to fight newly crowned WBC World Welterweight Champion Danny Garcia, which he thinks may lead to luring Floyd Mayweather out of retirement.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Khan revealed: “I’m the WBC #1, mandatory. He has to fight me. I’m ready. I want it sooner rather than later.”

Khan and Mayweather exchanged words ringside during Saturday night’s Garcia v Guerrero fight which stirred fresh speculation a fight could be made.

“There’s rumours Floyd Mayweather might come back and if I beat Danny Garcia, the Mayweather fight might be there for me.”

The current WBC Silver Welterweight Champion has missed out on fighting Floyd Mayweather on more than one occasion in recent years and believes the self-proclaimed ‘TBE’ is purposely dodging a potential fight.

“It just seems to me he’s afraid. He’s avoiding me. He fought Berto in the last fight, everyone wanted to see him and Amir Khan. People need to know that he’s avoiding Amir Khan.”
