Puerto Rican legend Miguel Cotto has brushed off Oscar De La Hoya's comments labelling him a "disgrace" and "disrespectful" after Cotto was stripped of the WBC title overnight.

Cotto's response to De La Hoya was ice cold, stating: "I don't need to pay attention to Oscar De La Hoya. I don't stick my nose in his business."

De La Hoya made his comments after news emerged that Cotto had been stripped of his WBC title for refusing to pay a sanctioning fee. The Puerto Rican star still faces Canelo Alvarez this Saturday night on BoxNation, and the now vacant WBC title is still available for Canelo to win.

Explaining his situation with the WBC, Cotto explained: "It's everything about money. I prefer to keep the money in my account, and that's all."
