Ring legend Bernard Hopkins has used an exclusive BoxNation interview to predict a Canelo Alvarez win over Miguel Cotto this Saturday night.

Hopkins made the claim just days before the huge superfight live on BoxNation this Saturday night at midnight UK time. Subscribe to BoxNation now to watch Cotto v Canelo.

"I see Canelo winning a fight that a lot of people didn't expect that he would make not as difficult as being mentioned, and as people are seeing. I think Canelo is smart enough, and educated enough since the May[weather] fight of last year, that he's going to be better than he ever was. He wins by decision," Hopkins said.

Canelo and Cotto clash for the now vacant WBC Word Middleweight title after the Puerto Rican was stripped of his belt in an argument over sanctioning fees on Tuesday night, a situation which Hopkins believes should have been resolved a long time before fight week.

"Miguel had belts many years, and he understand how the process go. Somebody dropped the ball for that not to have been taken care of then. When you fight for a title, you have to pay sanctioning fees. The consideration of what they asked for shouldn't have hit the media, because it should have been done, business-wise, months ago," said Hopkins.

"Somehow on their end they didn't take care of their business. And, for me, that's a little slap in the face for the WBC."

The fighting legend also predicted an Andy Lee win when the Irishman faces Billy Joe Saunders, but said he expected both fighters to be knocked down.

"I like Andy Lee. Tough. Both of them get knocked down in that fight, but I like Andy Lee. He's tough. He's gritty."
