Amongst the action-packed card at the Copper Box Arena on July 8th, there is a sizzling Super-Welterweight showdown which may be going under the radar.

Romford's Sam McNess challenges Asinia Byfield for the Southern Area Title, and with less than a month to go the fight is brewing nicely.

When the bout was confirmed, 7-0 McNess tweeted: "I'll be taking my first pro title from the big mouth," and added, "I've had a look at Byfield, I don't think he's in anywhere near my league."

"So McClown actually has mouth. Think you should stick to keeping it shut," replied Byfield, who fights out of Reading.

The Champion even made a bold prediction that McNess will not see past the fourth round.

This will be 12-1 Byfield's second defence of the Southern Area strap, after winning the belt in October 2016 by outpointing Erick Ochieng, before stopping John Brennan in February.

McNess lifted five national junior titles and was ranked as England’s senior number one at 69KG, also spending four years on the GB Development Squad.

Since turning pro, the 25-year-old has won all seven of his bouts and will be aiming to remain unbeaten on July 8th to lift his first professional title.
