Talks are under way for a potential super fight unification bout between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez.
In a statement posted on the WBC website, which confirmed that talks have started, the negotiation period has been extended.
“Due to the holiday week of Thanksgiving celebrated in the USA, and considering the goodwill of both parties to finalize an agreement, the WBC has extended until Friday, December 11, the time to have a final resolution of this matter in accordance to the WBC Rules and Regulations.”
The Kazakh KO King, who dispatched David Lemieux in the eighth round to unify the WBA and IBF World Middleweight Titles in October, has made it no secret he wants to fight Canelo.
After beating Miguel Cotto to pick up the WBC Middleweight strap, Canelo expressed a strong interest in his post-fight press conference to tango.
However promoter Oscar De La Hoya made it clear the flame haired Mexican would fight in May and then September 2016 which could throw up complications
Fans will be waiting patiently to see the outcome of the talks, the fight is arguably the biggest fight out there which could be made for next year.
