Maurice Hooker is intent on making a name for himself that UK fans will remember. Unbeaten in 23 fights, his only fight outside the States came just across the border in Tijuana, Mexico. His most recent of only three blemishes on an otherwise perfect record; a draw in 2016 against Anthony Crolla and Luke Campbell victim, Darleys Perez.

In a recent interview on the BoxNation podcast, Hooker made his feelings clear; he's angry, and he's going to punch Terry Flanagan in his mouth.

In the firey one-sided exchange with Steve Lillis, the boxer from Texas didn't hold back, bad mouthing his opponent.

"I can't stand him. He's weak, he's soft. I'm gonna wake him up! He's going down."

Convinced he's the stronger, more skillful, boxer, Hooker, repetitively declared his intentions towards Turbo,

"I'm gonna punch him in his mouth!"

Flanagan isn't usually one to get involved in a war of words, and on Tuesday took to Twitter to respond, understandably confused.

Hooker will travel to Europe for the first time in April, with the verbal aggression adding a new flavour to the fight.

The vacant WBO World Super Lightweight title bout features alongside Billy Joe Saunders' World title defence to Martin Murray. Should Flanagan and Hooker meet beforehand, the Mancunian is unlikely to get dragged into a press conference scrap, but we could see training partner Saunders stepping in to defend his friend.
