Heavyweight sensation Daniel Dubois impressed on Saturday night as he took the vacant Southern Area Heavyweight Title against AJ Carter in a brutal first-round knockout on the Billy Joe Saunders undercard.
Dubois, who recently turned 20, racked up a fifth straight KO and dropped his opponent three times en route to victory. The prospect spoke about his win in a post-fight interview with John Rawling.
“I was very focused for this fight, I trained very hard so I expect [this performance] of myself.”
The former amateur standout has developed a fearsome reputation for his power. When asked about the peach of a right hand that knocked out Carter, and whether it was the best punch he’s thrown, Dubois said: “I’ve thrown better, I’m just trying to improve all the time. Whoever they land on, they go down!
“It’s better that I go out there and do the business first round, I just want to get this over and done with straight away. As soon as the first bell rings I want to get this fight over and done with.”
The young Heavyweight has stormed through every challenge put in front of him and is developing well as he continues to impress on big televised cards.
